Frost, Helen. Hidden. 2011 (May). Frances Foster Books, $16.99 (978-0-374-38221-6). Gr. 5-9. [mpn]

Told from alternating viewpoints, this novel-in-verse  reveals the multiple complexities of memory of two girls and the strength that their friendship can withstand .  The poems are presented in free verse for the one girl, Wren while Dara’s voice has further insight. Helen Frost indicates that “the last words of the long lines for Dara, when read down the right side of the page, give further insight into her story.” The girls overcome pain as they try to heal and move on from their emotional journey.  It is a suspenseful story with mystery for middle grade readers.
