from two despicable conmen. Along the way, the intrepid little girl encounters several kind folk willing to shelter her and the fugitive pachyderm. Strong female characters abound throughout this novel, including the heroic Tua, her supportive mother, and kindly Mae Noi who oversees the animal sanctuary.
