I was wondering. I’m doing a display of Amelia Bloomer books for Women’s History Month starting Monday and noticed there are no printable posters and only occasional printable booklists on the site. Some years have top 10, some not; some are organized by author, some by title; some with covers, some not…different typefaces…very difficult to make something pretty for our display. This got me to wondering — Has the committee explored partnering with a company or foundation to issue an annual poster of Amelia Bloomer books in time for Women’s History Month? It would make this award more visible and encourage more librarians to do an annual display of Amelia Bloomer books. Permabound and Bound-to-Stay-Bound do annual posters for the Caldecott, Newbery, Coretta King, and Sieberts — maybe they’d do Amelia Bloomers as well?

I just created bulletin board materials to feature Amelia Bloomer books in a book display in our Children’s Room for Women’s History Month. We made a banner saying: Celebrate Strong Women (and Cultivate a New Generation of History-Makers!) with these Amelia Bloomer Award Winning Books then included the materials here: Anyone interested is free to use this.
