Paul, Miranda . One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia. Illus. by Elizabeth Zunon. 2015. 32p. Millbrook Press, $19.99 (978-1-4677-1608-6). Gr.K-3.

One Plastic Bag is based on the true story of Isatou Ceesay. In her village in Gambia, Isatou decided to take action when an abundance of plastic bags started polluting the land. Isatou came up with the idea to take the plastic bags, crochet them into purses and sell them in the local market. With the help of other women in the village, the pollution from plastic bags drastically decreased. One Plastic Bag shows how one woman can create a significant impact in her community and raise awareness globally about the impact of pollution on the environment.
